Harford Ties For 13th To Lead Paladins At Northrop Grumman Challenge

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CALIF. -- Senior Haylee Harford (+6) fired her second-consecutive round of 72 to finish in a tie for 13th, leading the 26th-ranked Furman women's golf team (+44) to an eighth-place finish Tuesday at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at the par 71, 6,017 yard Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.  

Harford, who hails from Leavittsburg, Ohio, teed off on No. 9 in the shotgun start and recorded birdies on No. 10 and No. 14 to turn at even par.  She birdied her last hole, No. 8, to finish the tournament six strokes back of individual medalist Andrea Lee (E) of Stanford, who notched a three-round total of 70-70-73=213. 

Senior Jacqueline Bendrick (+8) and junior Natalie Srinivasan (+10) each shot an even par 71 in Tuesday's final round.  Bendrick finished in 22nd place after tallying three birdies in round three, while Srinivasan, who scored consecutive birdies on No. 10 and No. 11, tied for 26th.  Sophomore Madison Moosa (+20) scored a 79 with a birdie on No. 16 on Tuesday, tying for 63rd, and sophomore Carly Burkhardt (+26) finished in 78th place after adding an 80 with birdies on No. 6 and No. 18 in the final round.

Thirteenth-ranked Stanford (+15) won the tournament by two strokes over No. 12 UCLA (+17).  Top-ranked Southern Cal (+19) placed third, followed by second-ranked Texas (+23).  Oklahoma State (+32) and No. 9 Arizona (+32) tied for fifth, and No. 14 Wake Forest (+37) took seventh place.  The Paladins (+44) finished eighth, beating out third-ranked Florida (+52), No. 5 Alabama (+61), and eighth-ranked Arizona State (+55).

The Paladins will compete at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head Island, S.C., March 8-10.
