Furman Women's Golf Ranked 24th By WGCA

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's golf team is ranked 24th nationally by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), as released today by the organization in its third and penultimate ranking of the spring season.

The Paladins, who placed 11th at the 2018 NCAA Championships, claimed their fourth-straight SoCon Championship last season and return their top three golfers from 2018, including junior Natalie Srinivasan, who earned a WGCA All-America citation last season, and senior Haylee Harford, who joined Srinivasan on the Golfweek All-American list in 2018.  Harford, who is ranked 39th nationally, finished in a tie for seventh last weekend at the Augusta National Women's Amateur, and Srinivasan, who currently ranks 56th nationally, finished tied for 17th at the event.

Furman opened the 2018 fall season with a fourth-place finish at the weather-shortened Cougar Classic, where Harford and Srinivasan tied for third to pace the Paladins.  The team then returned home to win the Lady Paladin Invitational, and Harford claimed individual medalist honors.  The Paladins placed four players among the top six and six players among the top 12.  In mid-October, Harford led Furman with an eighth-place finish at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational.

The Paladins began the 2019 spring season with an eighth-place finish at the Northrup Grumman Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif.  Harford tied for 13th to pace Furman.  In March at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, Furman also tied for eighth, and Srinivasan tied for 16th to lead the team.  The Paladins went on to record seventh-place finishes at both the Briar's Creek Invitational and the PING/ASU Invitational to conclude March play.  Srinivasan tied for fourth to pace Furman at Briar's Creek, and senior Jacqueline Bendrick led the Paladins at the PING/ASU Invitational, tying for eighth.

Furman will defend its Southern Conference title beginning Sunday in Hilton Head, S.C.
