Greenville, S.C. – Furman women's lacrosse welcomed their newest teammate, three-year-old Charlie, at an adoption ceremony on Saturday, held at Paladin Stadium.
Charlie was presented with an adoption certificate, her own locker, a ball signed by the team and other Furman women's lacrosse gifts in front of her family, new teammates and other Furman athletics staffers.
Charlie and the Paladins were paired together through the Friends of Jaclyn organization, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children battling childhood cancer. They also raise awareness through their Adopt-A-Child, Safe of the Sidelines and Guardian Angel Programs. Learn more here.
The three-year-old is currently in remission from stage 3 kidney cancer, diagnosed after a Wilms' tumor was discovered.
Furman opens its 2019 season on Feb. 9 against High Point inside Paladin Stadium.
