Abby Shields Named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week

 

Greenville, S.C. – Furman's Abby Shields has been named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week for games April 17-22, it was announced today based on voting completed by the league office. The nod is Shields' first of her senior season and the fifth of her career.

The Vero Beach, Fla., native turned in four goals in two games over the weekend, while adding seven assists for 11 total points. Shields tied her own school single-game record with five assists against Howard on Saturday, leading Furman to a school-record 22-0 victory. With her second goal against Delaware State on Thursday, Shields became Furman's all-time leading goal scorer, now with 129 in her career. She's also the school leader in career points (225), points per game (3.08), and assists (96).

The Paladins are back in action on Saturday, closing out the regular season with a 12:00 p.m. matchup at Wofford, before returning to Paladin Stadium to host the 2019 Southern Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship.
