Greenville, S.C. -- Furman goalkeeper Kellsey Weaver has been named Southern Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday by the league office.

Weaver, a native of Newnan, Ga., posted back-to-back shutouts this past week as Furman ran its school-record shutout streak to six matches and 540 minutes. The sophomore stopped a career-high eight shots on Friday in a 1-0 victory at Mercer before turning away three shots in Sunday afternoon's 1-0 triumph at The Citadel.

With the two victories, Furman improved to 8-2-1 overall, 4-0-0 in the SoCon, and maintained its hold on first place in the league standings.

Weaver has posted a 5-1-1 record, 0.73 goals against average and three solo shutouts in net this season, while seeing playing time in 10 of Furman's 11 matches. She has helped the Paladins record seven clean sheets in 11 outings.

The Paladins return to Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium on Friday when they host SoCon rival Wofford at 6 p.m. Fans can watch Friday's match on the SoCon Digital Network and follow live statistics through StatBroadcast.
