Women’s Soccer Hosts Wofford In Friday SoCon Showdown

Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman women's soccer team will look to strengthen its hold on first place in the Southern Conference standings when the Paladins host the Wofford Terriers in a 6 p.m. match Friday on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium.

Furman enters the match on a six-game winning streak and has recorded a school-record six consecutive shutouts to up its record to 8-2-1 overall and 4-0-0 in the SoCon. The Paladins and Samford Bulldogs (3-0-0) are the only undefeated teams after the opening two weeks of league play.

Senior Molly Dwyer leads the Paladins with seven goals and three assists, while sophomore Treva Aycock has added five goals and three assists. Aycock assisted on Erin O'Hearn's second half goal on Sunday that gave the Paladins a 1-0 victory at The Citadel.

Sophomore Kellsey Weaver recorded three saves in the victory over The Citadel after stopping a career-high eight shots in a 1-0 win at Mercer last Friday to help Furman to its school-record shutout streak and earn SoCon Player of the Week accolades.

Wofford comes to Furman with a 5-6-1 overall record and 1-2-1 SoCon mark. The Terriers are led by Hayley Younginer, who has scored a league-high 18 goals.

Furman holds a 20-6-1 lead in the all-time series with Wofford and the Paladins have won eight straight meetings.
