Rain Forces Cancellation Of Furman-Elon Softball On Sunday
Greenville, S.C. – Steady rain on Sunday morning forced the cancellation of games two and three of Furman's weekend Southern Conference softball series against Elon at Pepsi Stadium.
The Paladins (25-24, 8-10 SoCon) claimed a 3-2 victory in the series opener on Saturday before taking a 4-0 lead through two innings in game two. Darkness forced the suspension of the second game with the contest set to resume at 11 a.m. on Sunday, but steady rains on Sunday morning and a forecast calling for showers throughout the day led to the cancellation of the rest of the series.
Furman returns to action next Saturday when it opens a three-game series in Birmingham, Ala., against Samford. First pitch for the doubleheader is set for 2 p.m. with Sunday's series finale also set for 2 p.m.
