Greenville, S.C. -- Furman will serve as co-host of the USC Upstate/Furman Softball Classic this weekend at Pepsi Stadium on the Furman University campus.

Tournament play opens at 12 p.m. on Friday with Colgate taking on Georgetown before Furman entertains the Hoyas at 2 p.m. and the Raiders at 4 p.m. in the Paladins' home-opening doubleheader. Four games are scheduled for Saturday at Pepsi Stadium, including Furman versus Campbell at 1 p.m. and the Paladins hosting Presbyterian at 5 p.m. The tournament concludes on Sunday with Towson and Campbell squaring off at 11 a.m. before Furman takes on Towson at 1 p.m.

The Paladins are 0-5 on the season after facing stout competition at the season-opening Unconquered Invitational at Florida State last weekend. Furman dropped two games to the third-ranked Seminoles, dropped a pair of one-run decisions to Marshall and Lipscomb and lost on a walk-off homer in extra innings in a rematch against the Bisons on Sunday.

Junior Carolina Cash led the Furman offense hitting .353 with three doubles and three stolen bases, while senior Elise Smith hurled 4.1 innings of shutout ball in the circle last weekend.
