Greenville, S.C. -- Senior Hannah Reynolds and freshman Marissa Guimbarda each blasted two home runs to power Furman to a 12-0 win and best-of-the-three series victory over Samford on Sunday afternoon in the Paladins' 2018 home finale at Pepsi Stadium.

With its 12th victory in its last 14 games, Furman improved to 36-12 overall and 8-5 in the Southern Conference. The Paladins concluded the home schedule with a program-best 27-3 record at Pepsi Stadium. Samford dropped to 17-34 overall and 6-7 in the conference.

Furman got all the offense it would need with three runs in the bottom half of the first inning off of Samford starter McKenna Gillespie. Lauren Duggar reached on a wild pitch after striking out and scored on AnnaRose Borrelli's sacrifice fly to left field. Reynolds followed with her first of two home runs on the day, a two-run blast to center field, to up the margin to 3-0.

The Paladins added four more runs in the bottom of the third. Lindsey Bert reached on a one-out double before Borrelli walked and Reynolds loaded the bases with a line drive off the glove of Samford's third baseman. Guimbarda unloaded the bases by crushing a grand slam to left field that took one bounce and landed on the roof of a car 25 yards beyond the fence.

The offensive explosion continued in the bottom of the fourth for Furman as Duggar reached on a line drive off of the third baseman's glove and scored on Bert's single up the middle. Borrelli singled to right field before Reynolds hammered her second homer of the day and ninth of the season, a three-run shot to left-center field. Guimbarda made it back-to-back blasts with a solo clout to left field for the final 12-0 scoreline.

Reynolds finished 3-for-3 with two homers and five RBI, while Bert went 3-for-3 with a double. Guimbarda was 2-for-3 with two homers and five RBI.

Bert improved to 23-8 in the circle with her second shutout of the weekend and 12th of the season. The senior left-hander scattered two hits and did not issue a walk while fanning eight batters over five innings in the home finale.

Gillespie (3-10) suffered the loss for Samford allowing three runs on three hits over two innings of work.

Furman concludes the regular season next weekend with a three-game series at Mercer.
