Greenville, S.C. -- Katie Krzus belted two home runs and Georgia Tech tallied nine runs in the top of the fourth inning en route to a 14-2 victory over Furman Wednesday evening in softball action at Pepsi Stadium.

After a leadoff walk to open the game, Krzus hammered a two-run blast to left field and the Yellow Jackets extended their lead to 3-0 with an unearned run in the top of the second inning. Furman's Taylor Vahle and Savannah Hughes reached on singles in the bottom of the second and a two-out throwing error on Amanda Fleming's grounder to shortstop allowed two runs to score as the Paladins trimmed the Georgia Tech lead to 3-2.

The Yellow Jackets, who took advantage of five Furman errors on the night, plated two more unearned runs on a pair of Paladin miscues in the third before scoring nine runs on seven hits and two more errors in the top of the fourth. Krzus highlighted the fourth-inning rally for Georgia Tech with a three-run blast to left-center field, her second homer of the day.

Morgan Bruce (10-5) surrendered just two unearned runs on five hits over four innings to earn the victory, while Furman's Mackense Greico (1-8) was charged with 14 runs, 10 earned, in three and a third innings of work to suffer the loss.

Krzus finished the game 3-for-3 with a pair of homers, five RBIs and three runs, while Crosby Huckabay went 3-for-4 with a double and drove in two runs for the Yellow Jackets. Vahle led the Furman offense with a pair of hit, including a double.

Furman continues its midweek, non-conference action on Thursday with a 5 p.m. doubleheader versus Binghamton before entertaining the Chattanooga Mocs in a three-game series this weekend to begin Southern Conference play.
