With the victory, the Phoenix snapped the Paladins’ 10-match winning streak and advances to the finals of the league tournament.

    Furman’s Ansley Speaks has been named the 2014 Southern Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Year, as announced by the league office on Monday. The Simpsonville, S.C., native was also tabbed the league’s Freshman of the Year, while Paladin head coach Debbie Southern took home the league’s Coach of the Year honor. Postseason balloting was conducted by the league’s head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes.

With the win, the Paladins remain unbeaten in Southern Conference play and extend their winning streak to five matches. The Paladin win marks the first league loss for the Mocs this season and leaves Furman alone at the top of the league standings.
