Danni Vines Career Records
Freshman Year (2016-17): Vines was honored as the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year and was named to the All-SoCon first team for both singles and doubles, in addition to earning a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman team. She was also chosen the SoCon Tournament MVP after posting a 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 victory versus East Tennessee State in the league championship match, clinching the 4-2 win for the Paladins. Overall, Vines went 20-5 in singles play and was undefeated at 7-0 in league play, playing mostly at flight three. She put together an early-season five-match winning streak, scoring victories over Coastal Carolina, Winthrop, Troy, Brenau, and Elon, then notched a 6-3, 7-5 advantage versus N.C. State. She closed out the season with an 11-match winning streak, beginning with a 6-1, 6-2 victory versus Evansonville on March 9 and continuing throughout the SoCon tournament. In doubles play, Vines posted a 21-3 overall record. She teamed with Katty Weymouth for a 16-1 overall mark and perfect 7-0 SoCon record, playing primarily at flight two. After Vines and Hannah Ferrett beat Tulane, 6-2, the Paladin duo of Vines and Weymouth went on a tear, winning 16-straight matches to finish the regular season and on through three rounds of the Southern Conference tournament. Vines was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll and the ITA All-Academic Team.
Prep/Personal: A five-star recruit by www.tennisrecruiting.net, Danni Vines entered Furman ranked second in Tennessee and seventh in the Southeast and achieved a 17th-place national ranking among players in her graduating class. The 2014, 2015, and 2016 Class A/AA singles state champion, Vines, who attended Elizabethton High, never lost a set or a match at the high school level. The 2015 USTA Tennessee Most Outstanding Girl Player of the Year, she was also named the Johnson City Press Girls' Tennis Player of the Year. Danielle Leigh Vines was born on August 31, 1998, in Valdosta, Ga. She is the daughter of Jeff and Julie Vines. Her grandfather, Dan Taylor, was a member of the tennis team at West Virginia. She intends to study health sciences.
