GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's tennis team will conclude its Spring Break trip on Saturday when the Paladins take on Iowa at 10 a.m. in Fort Myers, Fla.
"We have had a great trip, and our team is training and competing at a high level, so this match is a perfect way to end the week," said Furman head coach Adam Herendeen. "We expect it to be a battle throughout the lineup, and we are really looking forward to the challenge."
Furman, which boats a 13-1 overall record and 1-0 SoCon mark, enters the match riding a ten-match winning streak after beating both Florida Gulf Coast and Valparaiso on Wednesday. The Paladins are led by junior Katarina Kozarov, who ranks 50th nationally and holds a 10-1 record at flight one singles. Freshman Madison Dillon is ranked 123rd national and holds a 13-1 singles mark, while rookie Julia Adams sports a 10-2 singles record. Freshman Taylor Melville is also 10-2 in singles play so far this season. In doubles play, Adams and Kozarov hold an 8-1 record at flight one, and Dillon has teamed with senior Katty Weymouth for a 7-1 mark.
The teams have met on the court just once, in 2007, when the Hawkeyes defeated the Paladins, 6-1. Iowa enters the match at 7-3 but has dropped its last three matches to Northwestern, Penn State, and Kansas State.
