GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's tennis team will entertain UNC Greensboro Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center.
Furman holds a 14-1 overall record and 1-0 SoCon mark and enters the match riding an eleven-match winning streak after beating Iowa, 5-2, on Saturday. The Paladins also scored wins over Florida Gulf Coast and Valparaiso last week during the team's Spring Break trip.
The Paladins are led by junior Katarina Kozarov, who ranks 50th nationally and holds a 10-2 record at flight one singles. Freshman Madison Dillon is ranked 123rd national and boasts a 14-1 singles mark, while rookie Julia Adams sports an 11-2 singles record. Freshman Taylor Melville is 10-3 in singles play so far this season. In doubles play, Adams and Kozarov hold an 8-1 record at flight one, and Dillon has teamed with senior Katty Weymouth for an 8-1 mark.
UNCG will open the SoCon season Wednesday versus the Paladins. The Spartans are 4-6 overall after beating Northern Colorado, 7-0, and Colorado State, 4-3, last week.
The match marks the 27th meeting between the two teams. The Paladins recorded two victories over the Spartans last year, winning 6-1 in Greensboro during the regular season then notching a 4-0 advantage in the first round of the SoCon Championships, to take a 23-3 lead in the series.
