Greenville, S.C. – Furman volleyball returns to Alley Gym this weekend, playing host to Samford and Mercer in the final regular-season games of the 2017 season. The Paladins are set to take on Samford on Friday night at 7:00 p.m., before matching up against Mercer in a 6:00 p.m. Senior Day showdown.
The Paladins (18-9, 12-2 SoCon) are coming off a 2-1 week in conference play, downing The Citadel and Western Carolina, but falling at ETSU. Nicole Mack led the Paladins with 47 kills last week (4.27 kills per set) and a .365 hitting percentage. The sophomore from Cascade, Colo., tallied a career-high 21 kills with just four errors at Western Carolina on Saturday. Meg DeMaar totaled 52 digs last week, including 28 against the Catamounts. The Paladins will honor graduating seniors Christen Sikora and Anna Eckstein on Saturday before first serve.
Samford (13-16, 8-7 SoCon) comes to Alley Gym after back-to-back wins. The Bulldogs rallied from a 2-1 deficit on Wednesday night to down Mercer, 3-2, in Macon, Ga. Krista Boesing turned in a match-high 21 kills and a team-best .273 hitting percentage in the victory, while adding five digs and two blocks. Kelsi Hobbs turned in an impressive performance against the Bears, amassing 19 kills and eight digs.
Mercer (9-19, 3-12 SoCon) heads into the weekend after back-to-back losses. The Bears fell to Samford, 2-3, on Wednesday night. Emily Krogman entered her 10th double-double for the season, marking 13 kills, 19 digs and two service aces, while Danielle Faust also earned a double-double, notching 11 kills and season-high 22 digs.
