Greenville, S.C. – Meg DeMaar was named the Southern Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced today by the SoCon. Weekly voting is conducted by the league office. The honor marks the first of the season for the Paladins and sixth of DeMaar's career.
The senior libero tallied 39 digs in two matches last week, good for 6.50 digs per set. DeMaar, a native of Glen Ellyn, Ill., totaled 16 digs in a midweek sweep over Wofford, before tallying 23 digs in a three-set sweep of UNCG inside Alley Gym on Friday. Friday's 23 digs marks a season-high for DeMaar and the Paladins in a three-set contest. DeMaar currently ranks third in the SoCon in digs versus all opponents, while ranking second in conference play.
Chattanooga's Dani Szczepanski was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week.
The Paladins return to action on Friday, October 19, hosting Samford at 7:00 p.m. inside Alley Gym.
