Jon D'Angelo joined the Furman men's basketball staff as director of operations in August of 2018.
D'Angelo served as a graduate assistant with the University of Virginia's men's basketball program in 2017-18 after working as a manager for the University of Miami as an undergraduate.
"We set out to find someone for this position who could add value and innovative ideas to our program from day one," said Richey, who guided the Paladins to a 23-12 mark last season. "During Jon's brief time here, I can say with assurance that we found that. He comes from great cultures in Miami (FL) and Virginia, and has brought fresh perspective to all of our operational duties. Jon is a tireless worker with high organizational capacity, and most importantly, he possess the character that our program demands. We are thankful to have a person of this quality and pedigree to lead all operational aspects of our program."
D'Angelo coached and officiated high school basketball in central New Jersey for four years before attending Miami, where he earned a degree in sports administration in 2016 and served as volunteer manager for the men's basketball team prior to becoming the program's head manager.
"It's an honor for me to be able to serve the student-athletes, Coach Richey, the basketball staff, and the Paladin community here at Furman University," said D'Angelo. "I look forward to contributing in any way I can to the continued building of an outstanding program and culture."
A native of Howell, N.J., D'Angelo recently completed his master's degree in higher education with a focus on intercollegiate athletics at Virginia, while interning under the Cavaliers' Associate Athletics Director for Basketball Administration, Ronnie Wideman.
