GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the NCAA Southeast Regional meet Friday at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va. The Paladins will square off against each Division I team from South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Kentucky at the meet.
The women's 6K race will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the men's 10K race at 11 a.m. Parking tickets are priced at $20 and must be purchased online in advance at https://virginiasports.evenue.net/events/NCAA-XCR.
Live results from Friday's races will be available at https://flashresults.com/2026_Meets/xc/NCAASE/index.htm.
The Paladin teams recently claimed their 13th-straight SoCon titles on both the men's and women's sides. Freshman Tessa Walter was honored as the SoCon Women's Runner of the Year and as the league's female freshman of the year after winning the women's individual title, while graduate student Albert Velikonja and junior Chris Knight finished second and third, respectively, to lead the Furman men at the league meet.
Sophomores Zoie Lamanna, Nysa Males, Rory Sullivan, and Jais Ward; plus freshmen Annie Miller, Elly Velasquez, and Walters will compete for the Paladin women on Friday. Kate Bannigan will travel as an alternate.
For the men, Velikonja and Knight will be joined by graduate student Bryn Woodall and seniors Luke Taylor and Colton Kempney in the Furman lineup. Sophomores Rives Boltwood, and Matteo Tonnos complete the Paladin slate.
The top two teams at each of the country's nine regional meets will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, which will be held November 22 in Columbia, Mo. Thirteen at-large bids will be given to teams following this weekend's regional competition.
After the competing teams have been determined, 38 additional individuals per gender will be selected to compete at the NCAA Championships. From those teams not selected in the above process, the top four finishers at each regional are automatically selected, but must have finished within the top 25 of the region. Two additional athletes will be selected from the remainder of the national pool (and must have finished in the regional top 25) as at-large individuals.
The NCAA cross country selection show will air Saturday, Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. on NCAA.com. A link to the show will be on the front page of NCAA.com.
