CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. -- Junior Sinead Haughey set a new Paladin record with a time of 34:32.57 in the 10,000m to lead the Furman track and field team at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Va., on Saturday evening.
Haughey, who knocked 37 seconds off her previous school record time of 35:09.37, will qualify for the NCAA East Regional after recording the time, which is the best in the Southern Conference this season.
Freshman Brock Baker posted a personal best time of 3:46.90 in the 1,500m, the top time in the SoCon in the event this season. He placed 17th in Saturday's field, which was comprised of some of the Southeast's top runners in the event. Junior Tripp Hurt placed 22nd in the event, crossing the finish line in 3:49.21, the second-best time in the league this year.
Select members of the Paladin team will compete at the Hokie Twilight Meet in Blacksburg, Va., on May 18.
