Mandato Leads Paladins In Opening Day Of Vanderbilt Invitational

NASHVILLE, TENN. -- Sophomore Trent Mandato finished fourth with a time of 14:48.30 in the men's 5,000m to lead the Paladin indoor track and field team Friday in the opening day of the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tenn.  Junior Luke Meade also competed in the 5,000m, taking 15th place with a time of 15:43.92.

Junior Nate Kyei-Donkor placed eighth in the long jump after recording a mark of 20-11.75 (6.39m), while senior Chad Word took 12th with a mark of 19-3.5 (5.88m).

On the women's side, junior Grace Dwyer turned in an eighth place finish in the 5,000m, and junior Jennifer Stephenson was 11th in the event at 17:44.26.

The meet will conclude on Saturday.  The women's 3,000m run will begin at 10 a.m.  The final event of the meet, the men's 4x400m relay, is set to commence at 5:25 p.m.
