GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's baseball team plays its final non-conference game of the 2018 season on Tuesday when it plays host to Gardner-Webb in a 6:00 p.m. game at Latham Stadium.

The contest will mark the first of four games in five days for the Paladins (24-26), who open a three-game series against UNCG on Thursday in advance of Southern Conference Tournament play, which gets underway next Tuesday at Fluor Field in downtown Greenville.  UNCG wrapped up the SoCon regular season championship by completing the series sweep over The Citadel on Sunday in Charleston.

Furman beat Gardner-Webb, 15-12, in the season's first meeting in Boiling Springs, N.C., on Apr. 18, registering an 18-hit effort highlighted by a 3-for-4, three-RBI performance by catcher Logan Taplett.

The Paladins are coming off a road series win over East Tennessee State over the weekend.  After falling 15-2 on Friday Furman posted a 6-5 win on Saturday and 9-4 verdict on Sunday.

The Runnin' Bulldogs (27-24) dropped a home series to Big South Conference rival Charleston Southern, falling 7-2 on Sunday.

Expected to get the start for Furman is junior Jake Crawford (1-1, 6.17 ERA), the Paladins' regular third baseman who owns 11 appearances and three starts this season.

Garnder-Webb will counter with junior right-hander Mason Fox (3-6, 6.64 ERA).

Furman is paced at the plate by freshman outfielder Ben Anderson (.376, 3 HR, 39 RBI), who leads the Paladins in batting average, runs (46), hits (73), triples, RBI, total bases (107), slugging percentage (.552), on-base percentage (.477), and multi-hit games (22), and has reached base in 32 consecutive games.  The LaGrange, Ga., product established a new school season triples standard in Sunday's win over ETSU with his seventh three-bagger that also drove in a pair of runs.

Tuesday's contest will be live streamed over the SoCon Digital Network and audio streamed via Stretch Audio, with the "Voice of the Paladins" Dan Scott on the call.
