Greenville, S.C. – The Furman Paladins and Clemson Tigers will meet for the 148th time when the Upstate rivals face off on the hardwood on Friday evening at Littlejohn Coliseum. The contest is set to tip off at 7 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN3.com.
Clemson holds a 96-51 edge and has won 27 consecutive meetings in a series that began during the 1911-12 season. The Tigers claimed an 82-53 win over Furman in the last meeting between the schools during the 2009-10 campaign and the Paladins are in search of their first victory over Clemson since an 87-79 triumph at Littlejohn Coliseum on January 25, 1978.
Furman enters Friday's contest at 3-1 after scoring a 63-51 triumph over Loyola Chicago on Sunday afternoon at Timmons Arena. Brandon Sebirumbi and Richard Brown scored 14 points apiece to lead the Paladins who committed just four turnovers on the afternoon and shot a season-best 46.7% from the floor against the Ramblers.
Clemson slipped to 2-2 with a 60-59 loss to Coastal Carolina on Tuesday evening when Chris Gradnigo put back his own miss to beat the buzzer. The loss was the second straight for Clemson who lost 72-69 to the College of Charleston last Saturday.
Friday's game opens a three-game road trip for the Paladins. Furman opens Southern Conference play at Elon on November 30, before visiting league favorite Davidson on December 3, at Belk Arena. The Paladins return home on December 6, when they host UVa-Wise.
In addition to the live streaming broadcast on ESPN3.com, Furman fans can follow all the action of Friday's contest at Clemson with play-by-play voice Dan Scott and color commentator Ron Smith on WOLT-FM 103.3, WGOG-FM 96.3 and through Stretch Audio at www.FurmanPaladins.com.
