Davis, Calif. – Furman concludes its non-conference men's basketball schedule on Monday when it travels to Davis, Calif., to face the UC Davis Aggies in a 10 p.m. ET contest at The Pavilion.
The Paladins enter the game at 5-7 after suffering a 90-60 loss at Pac-12 contender California on Saturday afternoon in Berkeley, Calif. Justin Cobbs, Tryone Wallace and Jeff Powers tallied 18 points apiece to lead five Golden Bears in double figures as Cal shot better than 60% from the floor to improve to 9-4. Freshman William Gates Jr. paced Furman with 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting while sophomores Larry Wideman and Stephen Croone, who leads Furman at better than 21 points per contest, netted 11 points apiece.
Monday's contest will mark the first meeting between the Paladins and Big West Conference member UC Davis. Furman's last encounter with a current member of the Big West came on December 28, 2009, when UC Santa Barbara topped the Paladins, 72-60, in the Golden Bear Classic at Cal.
UC Davis enters Monday's contest at 4-9 following an 80-74 victory over the Air Force Falcons on December 21, in Davis. The Aggies' victory snapped a seven-game skid. Josh Richart and Corey Hawkins lead the Aggies in scoring averaging 17.3 and 17.0 points per game, respectively.
