Elon, N.C. -- Sophomore Alex Hunter scored a career-high 18 points, all in the second half, to lead five players in double figures as No. 25 Furman pulled away to down Elon, 98-77, Tuesday evening at the Schar Center in Elon, N.C.

The Paladins improved to 9-0 on the season, while claiming their 16th win in their last 17 games overall and notching their 15th consecutive regular season triumph. Furman's 98 points represented the most for a Paladin team in a road victory since downing Charleston Southern, 103-98, on December 18, 1993. Elon dropped to 3-6.

After back-to-back threes from Elon's Simon Wright capped a run that cut a 12-point Paladin lead down to 55-52 with 12:24 to play, Furman fashioned a 32-12 spurt to extend its advantage to 87-64 on Hunter's three-point play with 4:48 remaining. The Raleigh, N.C., native scored 11 points during the decisive run that began with five straight points from freshman Noah Gurley.

Hunter connected on 7-of-11 second half shots and dished out five assists over the final 20 minutes to key Furman to a 66.7% shooting effort in the final period, including a 10-for-16 performance behind the three-point arc. Senior Matt Rafferty converted on 9-of-11 shots to tally 18 points and sophomore Clay Mounce finished with 17 points and nine rebounds. Junior Jordan Lyons netted 13 points, Mike Bothwell matched a career-high with 11 and freshman Jaylon Pugh drained all three of his three-point chances to tie his career-best with nine points.

The Paladins, who posted a 38-31 edge in the boards, shot 56.7% from the field to offset Elon's 14-for-35 effort from three-point range. Furman outscored the Phoenix 46-26 in the paint and forced Elon into 14 turnovers with nine steals.

Steven Santa Ana paced Elon with 21 points on 5-of-8 shooting from three-point range, while forward Tyler Seibring tallied 19 points. The Phoenix shot 44.6% from the field.

The 25th-ranked Paladins return to action on Saturday with a 4:30 p.m. tip-off at USC Upstate. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and fans can listen on the Furman IMG Sports Network at FoxSports 1440AM, through Stretch Audio at and via the TuneIn Radio app.
