Rocco Adrian Named Cornerbacks Coach At Furman

June 8, 2009

GREENVILLE, S.C. --- Furman head football coach Bobby Lamb announced today the hiring of Rocco Adrian as cornerbacks coach.

Adrian, a former Paladin defensive back who last year served as a volunteer assistant coach on the Furman staff, replaces Tom Evangelista, who accepted the defensive coordinator's position at Presbyterian College in January.

"We're very happy to have Rocco join our staff on a full-time basis after working with us last year in a volunteer capacity," said Lamb in making the announcement. "He was a solid player for us, is highly respected, and has worked hard for this opportunity."

Prior to returning to his alma mater last year he served as assistant head coach, defensive coordinator, and linebackers coach at Greenville's Christ Church Episcopal School from 2005-07. He coached the Cavalier linebackers from 1999-04 and also served as the school's wrestling coach for eight years.

A 1999 Furman graduate with a degree in health & exercise science, he lettered four years (1995-98) as a member of the Paladin football program, seeing action at safety and totaling 114 tackles, four pass deflections, and an interception during his career. As a senior he garnered the team's Bob King and Purple Heart Awards.

A native of Danville, Pa., he graduated from Deltona (Fla.) High School before coming to Furman in 1995.

His father, Pete Adrian, currently serves as head football coach at Norfolk State University.
