GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's tennis team hits the road to conclude the 2019 regular season this weekend. The Paladins will play at Richmond Friday at 3 p.m. then will square off at Norfolk State Saturday at 1 p.m.
Furman enters Friday's match with a 14-4 overall record and 6-1 SoCon mark after beating Mercer, 5-2, on Monday. Junior Jake Bhangdia boasts a 13-3 singles record at flight four, and sophomore Drew Singerman is 14-0 in singles play. Jake Munns is 13-3 in singles action and James Roelofse is 8-2. Ivan Mitric & Munns hold a 10-3 record at flight one doubles, and Bhangdia and Clarke Wilson sit at 11-2 at flight two. At flight three, Henrik Atlevi and Singerman are 9-2 overall.
Friday's match marks the 13th meeting between Furman and Richmond. The teams last met in 1993, when the Spiders defeated the Paladins, 3-1. Furman leads the all-time series, 11-1. Richmond holds a 12-5 overall record and 3-1 Atlantic 10 mark after dropping a 5-2 decision to James Madison on Saturday.
On Saturday, Furman and Norfolk State will meet for the first time. The Spartans are 5-7 overall and 2-1 in the MEAC after losing at Morgan State, 4-1, on Sunday.
