Greenville, S.C. – Furman women's lacrosse hits the road this weekend, heading up to Michigan to face Detroit Mercy on Friday and Central Michigan on Sunday in SoCon matchups. Both games are set to be live streamed.
Furman (6-6, 1-0 SoCon) is coming off a 2-0 weekend, downing Kennesaw State and Mercer inside Paladin Stadium. The win over Mercer marked the Paladins' first SoCon win of 2019, as they downed the Bears 13-11. Courtney Baker was named the SoCon Defensive Player of the Week after playing 30:00 in each game and making 24 saves on 60 shots for a .571 save percentage. The senior currently leads the conference in saves per game (13.00).
Detroit Mercy (5-7, 1-1 SoCon) downed Howard, 23-0, and Delaware State, 20-5, last weekend. Senior Lexie Kinmond has a team-high and SoCon-best 61 points (34 goals, 27 assists), notching at least three points in 10 of 12 games this season, and season-highs with nine points against Kent State and Delaware State.
Central Michigan (5-7, 1-1 SoCon) is coming off a win over Delaware State, 19-1, before downing Howard 20-1 last weekend. The Chippewas will take on Wofford on Friday before playing host to the Paladins on Sunday. Jocelyne Lemay leads CMU in goals with 31, and is second on the team in points with 35. Natalie Karlen leads the Chippewas in points with 39 (29 goals 10 assists). Lemay is tied for fourth in the SoCon in scoring, while Karlen is seventh, and CMU's Anna Schoonover is eighth with 25 goals.
