Greenville, S.C. – Furman's Southern Conference softball series at ETSU, originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, will now begin on Thursday due to the threat of inclement weather in Johnson City, Tenn.

The Paladins and Bucs will play a 5 p.m. doubleheader on Thursday at Betty Basler Field in Johnson City before concluding the three-game set with a single game on Friday at noon. ETSU will provide live statistics for all three games via StatBroadcast with the links posted at

Furman enters the series at 10-29 overall and 2-7 in SoCon play on the season after dropping four games against SEC foes this past weekend. After falling 9-7 at No. 16 South Carolina last Wednesday night, Furman pushed No. 18 Arkansas to extra innings on Saturday before dropping a 6-5 decision in 12 innings. The Razorbacks downed the Paladins 11-0, 9-1 to close out the series sweep on Sunday.

Sophomore Marissa Guimbarda leads the Paladins batting .342 with a SoCon-best 13 home runs and 34 RBIs, while fellow sophomore Cammy Pereira has hit .336 with a league-leading five triples. Right-hander Emily DeMonte, who has paced the Paladin pitching staff with an 8-13 record and 4.37 ERA, is coming off of a 200-pitch, complete-game performance versus Arkansas on Saturday in which she allowed just four earned runs over 11.2 innings.

The Bucs, 17-19-2 overall and 3-6 in the SoCon, were swept in a three-game series at Samford this past weekend. Nikki Grupp leads ETSU batting .339 with 10 homers and league-best 39 RBIs.

ETSU holds a 27-20 lead in the all-time series between the schools. Furman swept the regular season series versus ETSU last season in Greenville before ETSU handed the Paladins a pair of 4-1 defeats in SoCon Tournament play.

Furman returns on to Pepsi Stadium on Wednesday, April 24, to host USC Upstate in a 5 p.m. doubleheader.
