Women's Tennis Opens 2010 Fall Season At Landfall Invitational

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The Furman women's tennis team opened the 2010 fall season Friday in the first day of the Landfall Invitational in Wilmington, N.C.  In the A1 Singles bracket, Paladin senior Monica Arguello defeated Victoria Sekely of Georgetown 6-3, 6-1, and Furman freshman Katherine Oudin recorded a 6-2, 6-4 win over Olga Blank of UNC Wilmington to advance within the bracket.  Paladin sophomore Olivia Maurice posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Alexandra Landers of Georgetown in the B2 Singles bracket. 

In doubles action, Arguello teamed with freshman Margaret Boyette to defeat Chelsea Kahle and Kelly Cameron of UNC Wilmington, 8-3.  Sophomore Michele Stanford and freshman Amanda Murray combined for an 8-1 victory over Michelle Pratt and Samantha Martin of Georgetown in a consolation doubles match.

The tournament will continue through Sunday.
