Chapel Hill, N.C. -- Freshman Amanda Murray recorded a 6-0, 6-1 win over Cara Caruso of Presbyterian in the first round of the qualifying singles draw to lead the Furman women's tennis team at the 2010 ITA-USTA Women's Carolina Regional this weekend in Chapel Hill, N.C. Murray was defeated in the second round by Jennifer Ansari of Appalachian State, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(3).
In the singles main draw, Gina Suarez-Malaguti of North Carolina defeated Furman freshman Katherine Oudin, 6-1, 6-1. Senior Monica Arguello fell 6-3, 6-4 to North Carolina's Jelena Durisic, and freshman Margaret Boyette dropped a 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 match to Tar Heel Tessa Lyons.
North Carolina State's Sanna Bhambri and Sandhya Nagaraj defeated Arguello and Boyette 9-8 in the first round of doubles competition, while Ryann Cutillo and Kayla Duncan of Wake Forest beat Murray and Oudin 8-2 in the first round of doubles.

Furman will conclude the fall season Nov. 5-7 at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.
