Paladins Sweep Doubles Competition In Second Day Of UCF Invitational

ORLANDO, FLA. -- The Furman women's tennis swept the doubles competition and registered one singles win in the second day of play at the UCF Invitational in Orlando, Fla.  The Paladins squared off against North Florida in doubles and faced Florida International in singles at the tournament. 

Junior Alex Moreno-Kaste teamed with senior Katherine Oudin for a 6-3 win over Simona Weymar and Rebeca Pereira, while rookies Blair Martin and Ansley Speaks defeated Marina Cunningham and Taylor Hollander, 6-2, in doubles action.  The duo of senior Margaret Boyette and freshman Karlee Bryde held on for a 7-6(7-4) victory against Michelle Valdez and Quetzali Vazquez.

In singles play, Bryde posted a quick 6-1, 6-0 victory over Valentina Briceno of Florida International for the Paladins' lone win of the day.  Martin split sets with Tina Mohorcic, but Mohorcic claimed the win, 7-6, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3).

The tournament will conclude on Monday.
