GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's tennis team will conclude the fall season this weekend at the FSU All-Conference Showdown at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center on the campus of Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla.
"This tournament is a great way for us to finish up our fall season," said Furman head coach Adam Herendeen, the 2016 and 2017 SoCon Coach of the Year. "We will be challenged with some great competition, and after being in smaller groups for some tournaments, it will be fun to have everyone together."
The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. each day and will run from Friday through Sunday. Admission is free to the event. Furman will be joined in the 11-team tournament by Iowa, Troy, Wisconsin, USF, UCF, West Virginia, Middle Tennessee State, ETSU, Western Kentucky, and host Florida State.
The Paladins return seven players from last season's team that posted a 23-6 overall record and won the SoCon regular season championship for the second-consecutive season with a perfect 7-0 mark in league play. Furman, which won the SoCon tournament title and went on to compete at the NCAA Championships, swept the SoCon post-season awards for the second-straight year in 2017. Danni Vines, the 2017 Southern Conference Freshman of the Year, and Katty Weymouth, who won the award the previous year, are ranked 55th nationally in the ITA preseason doubles poll.
