Greenville, S.C. – Furman volleyball hits the road this weekend, continuing SoCon play at Western Carolina and ETSU on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Friday's match at Western Carolina is set to be streamed on ESPN3.
The Paladins 6-9 (2-2 SoCon) are coming off a 2-0 weekend, earning back-to-back sweeps over Mercer and The Citadel. Courtney Hoffman tallied nine kills and a .471 hitting percentage on Friday night, then put down a season-high 13 kills and a .381 percentage on Saturday night against The Citadel, while freshman Neci Harris tallied 10 kills and zero errors for a .714 percentage against the Bulldogs. Jordan McNeill continues to lead the Paladins with 130 kills on the season, while Carris Campbell sits second at 116.
Western Carolina (7-8, 1-3 SoCon) is coming off a 3-0 home sweep of UNCG on September 26. Merry Gebel posted her third straight double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs to lead the Catamounts. Gebel leads WCU on the year with 139 kills, while MaKenzie White is second with 125.
ETSU (14-4, 3-1 SoCon) heads into the weekend after downing UNCG on Wednesday. The Bucs sit first in the SoCon in four categories - hitting percentage, assists, kills, and blocks. Leah Clayton ranks first in kills in the SoCon with 272, while Alyssa Kvarta is first on the team and second in the conference in assists with 692. The Bucs play host to Wofford on Friday night before welcoming the Paladins to Johnson City on Saturday.
