69th Ranked Furman Shuts Out Appalachian State 7-0

Greenville, SC - The Furman men's tennis team won their second match in two days with a 7-0 victory over Appalachian State. With the win the Paladins improved to 12-9, 3-0 in the Southern Conference, dropping the Mountaineers to 8-7, 0-5 in conference.

Furman jumped out to a 1-0, sweeping all three doubles matches. As singles play began the Paladins did not let up, winning all six singles matches in straight sets to secure the 7-0 shut out. In flight one Ben Pauluhn downed Alex Probst 6-3, 6-3 and Andy Juc defeated Ryan Brookshaw 6-2, 6-4 in flight two. Playing at No.3 Greg Maarschalk hit his way to a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Dimitar Dimitrov while Bo Ladyman cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win in the No.4 slot. In flight five Daniel Knause ousted Andrew Taylor 6-1, 6-3 and in the final match Chris Gilli won recorded his eighth straight match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Zach Williams.

The Paladins return to action on Saturday when they travel to Greensboro, NC for a 1:00 PM match against UNC Greensboro.
