Greenville, S.C. - The Furman men's tennis team improved to 4-3 on the season with wins over Charlotte and Washington & Lee in back-to-back matches on Tuesday at Mickel Tennis Center. The Paladins opened play with a 6-1 victory against the Charlotte 49ers (1-3), before defeating the Generals (1-1), 6-1. Furman has won its last 17 matches at home, dating back to the 2007 season.

The Furman doubles pairs had a successful afternoon, winning five of the six matches and earning the doubles point in both dual matches. Senior Bo Ladyman and junior Jordan Walters defeated Charlotte's Charles Martin-Lecamp and Anthony Davison, 8-1, to improve to 3-1 on the season. Ladyman also teamed up with senior Andy Juc for an 8-2 victory over W&L's Tim Watson and Jamie McCardell.

In singles action, sophomore Sawyer Duncan extended his winning streak to six consecutive matches. Duncan defeated Charlotte's Brad Clinard, 6-3, 6-2 at number five. He moved up to the number three position against Washington & Lee and picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win against Tim Watson. Ladyman improved to 5-1 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Michael Anders at number two singles in the first match of the day. Against the Generals, Ladyman played at the top spot and earned a 6-2, 6-3 over Brent Meyers. Freshman Philipp Fuelkell continued his impressive play this season, winning both matches on the day to improve to 6-1 overall.

Furman will be back in action on Friday, February 20 when the Paladins face off against #16 Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla.
