Furman's Anderson To Receive Palmetto Patriot Award

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman junior linebacker Kadarron Anderson will be awarded the Palmetto Patriot Award prior to today's Southern Conference contest between the Paladins and Chattanooga Mocs.

South Carolina lieutenant governor Andre Bauer will present the award in recognition of Anderson's outstanding contributions and commitment to public service to his fellow citizens and State of South Carolina.  It is the highest honor the lieutenant governor can bestow.

A Greenwood, S.C., native and captain of this year's team, Anderson was placed in Greenwood's Connie Maxwell Children's Home as an eight year-old but quickly developed into a leader, gaining the admiration of his classmates and home administration.

He excelled playing six positions at Greenwood's Emerald High School, totaling 342 tackles and 12 interceptions and twice earning all-state honors prior to signing with Furman.  In two-plus seasons as a Paladin, he has compiled 207 tackles, including 13 hits for-loss.  In 2009 Anderson was named All-Southern Conference and garnered Sports Network third team All-America honors.

A frequent speaker to young people in the public schools and a shining example of the power of determination and a positive attitude, Anderson is majoring in business administration.
