Furman Holds Off Loyola Marymount & Army On Saturday

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Furman held off Loyola Marymount, 4-3, and Army, 4-0, Saturday at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center in West Point, N.Y. 

The Paladins won two doubles matches and three singles contests for the morning victory.  Junior Cameron Green and sophomore Alex Steryous defeated Lukas Moenter and Gabriel Diaz Freire, 6-1, at flight two doubles, and rookies Trevor Croyder and Clarke Wilson topped Luke Bohuslav and Ryan Brown, 7-5, at number three.

In singles, senior Adam Steryous posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory versus Nick Borchenko in the top-seeded contest, and Green downed Moenter, 6-3, 7-6, at number two.  Wilson held on for a 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 win over Max Kaiser at flight three.

In the afternoon match, Furman swept the doubles matches and won three singles match-ups.  Adam Steryous and sophomore Jake Munns downed Sam Lampman and Gregory Shannon, 6-4, at flight one, while Green and Alex Steryous beat Nikita Pereverzin and Grant Riechmann, 6-4, at number two.  In the flight three contest, Wilson and Croyder defeated Michael Nguyen and Myles Conlin, 6-2.

Adam Steryous topped Ngyuen, 6-2, 6-1, at number one singles, and Green recorded a 6-3, 6-1 win over Lampman at flight two.  At flight five, Munns downed Pereverzin, 6-3, 6-1.

Furman (3-2) square off against Yale at West Point on Sunday at 9 a.m.
