Box Score 2 ORLANDO, FLA. – The Furman men's tennis team downed Duquesne, 4-3, and fell to Butler, 4-3, Tuesday in Orlando, Fla.
The Paladins won two out of three doubles matches to take the opening point against the Dukes. Senior Adam Steryous and sophomore Jake Munns topped Adam Blasinsky and Chris Corrao, 6-2, at flight one, and freshmen Clarke Wilson and Jake Bhangdia beat Andrew Ong and Dane Bendel, 6-3, at number three.
In singles action, Furman scored three points for the victory. Adam Steryous posted a 6-2, 6-0 win over Dimitris Stavropoulo in the top-seeded match-up, and Wilson defeated Drew Akins, 6-2, 6-1, at number three. At flight five, sophomore Alex Steryous held on for a 6-3, 5-7, 6-2, advantage versus Jared Isaacs.
Earlier in the day versus the Bulldogs, the Paladins took the doubles point with wins at flights one and three. Adam Steryous and Munns beat Mikheil Khmiadashvil and Mason Dragos, 6-3, at number one, and Wilson and Ghangdia posted a 6-2 win over Spencer Lang and Adrian Mag at number three.
Adam Steryous defeated Aviv Ben Shabat, 6-1, 7-6(3) at flight one singles, and Munns scored a 6-4, 6-1 victory against Mag at flight five.
Furman (10-5) opens the SoCon season at Wofford on March 21.
