Jack Crosby Ties For 14th To Lead Paladins In Day One Of River Run Collegiate

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Junior Jack Crosby (+2) is tied for 14th after Monday's two rounds to lead the Furman men's golf team at the River Run Collegiate at the par 72, 7,317 yard River Run Country Club in Davidson, N.C.  

A native of Memphis, Tenn., Crosby teed off of No. 2 in the morning shotgun round and recorded a 75 after birdieing his last two holes, No. 18 and No. 1.  He rebounded in the afternoon, firing a one-under 71 with four birdies, including birdies on three out of four holes from No. 8 through No. 11.  

Freshman Reynolds Lambert (+3) is tied for 20th after two rounds.  He shot a 73 with birdies on No. 6 and No. 14 in round one, then added a 74 with four birdies in the day's second round.  Senior Keller Harper (+5) and freshman Ross Funderburke (+5) are tied for 33rd.  Harper recorded an even 72 in the first round after scoring birdies on No. 6 and No. 9 and eagling the par-5 No. 12.  In the afternoon round, he tallied a 77 with a birdie on No. 13.  Funderburke recorded a 74 in round one and a 75 in round two.  In the morning round, he birdied No. 2, and in the afternoon, he also eagled the par-5 No. 12 and added three additional birdies.

Freshman Walker Crosby (+7) led the Paladins with five birdies in each of Monday's two rounds.  He is tied for 41st after scoring a 76 and 75 in the two rounds.  Sophomore Phil Jones (+9), who is playing as an individual, is tied for 53rd going into the final round.  He recorded a 77 with birdies on No. 2 and No. 8 in the first round and a 76 with three birdies in round two.

Trey Tobias (-9) of Charlotte holds the individual lead after posting rounds of 68 and 67 on Monday.  He holds a three-stroke lead at 135 heading into the final round.  

James Madison (-13) led the field with a 282 in round one and a 281 in the day's second round to hold an 11-stroke lead entering Tuesday's round.  Charlotte (-2) sits in second, while Wright State (+7) is third.  Davidson (+9) is in fourth place, followed by Radford (+11) in fifth.  The Paladins (+13) are in sixth place after two rounds.

Furman will tee off of No. 11 beginning at 8:09 a.m. on Tuesday in the final round of the 54-hole tournament and will play in a group with Radford and Richmond.  Admission is free and fans are welcome.  Results and live tournament scoring are available via www.FurmanPaladins.com and www.golfstat.com.
