DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Freshman Reynolds Lambert (+3) and junior Jack Crosby (+3) tied for 12th to lead the Furman men's golf team to a fourth-place finish Tuesday at the River Run Collegiate at the par 72, 7,317 yard River Run Country Club in Davidson, N.C.
Lambert, who hails from Mountain Brook, Ala., notched a team-high five birdies for a final-round 72, while Crosby, native of Memphis, Tenn., tallied three birdies, including consecutive birdies on his final two holes, for a 73 in Tuesday's round.
Freshman Ross Funderburke (+7) tied for 25th after posting an eagle on the par-5 No. 18 to finish the round. He scored four birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 6 and No. 7, for a 74 in the final round of competition. Senior Keller Harper (+8) shot a 74 with three birdies on the front nine to tie for 28th, and freshman Walker Crosby (+13) tied for 50th after scoring a 78 with birdies on No. 3 and No. 4 on Tuesday.
Sophomore Phil Jones (+22), who played as an individual finished in a tie for 77th after recording an 85 with birdies on No. 3 and No. 4 in round three.
Walker Cress (-9) of James Madison won individual medalist honors by three strokes after posting rounds of 70-68-69=207.
James Madison (-15) won the tournament by 22 strokes over second-place Charlotte (+7). Davidson (+14) finished third, followed by the Paladins (+19) in fourth place. Wright State (+20) rounded out the top five.
Furman will compete at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate in Raleigh, N.C., Oct. 5-6.
