HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Senior Keller Harper (-4) carded two rounds under par to place fifth and helping the Furman (-4) men's golf team to a second-place finish after day one of the 15th Annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate at the par 72, 6,913 yard Arnold Palmer Signature Course at Wexford Plantation in Hilton Head, S.C.

A native of Atlanta, Ga., Harper shot a 71 with three birdies in the morning round then fired a 69 with four birdies in the afternoon round to finish the day three strokes back of leader Ben van Wyk (-7) of Augusta, who notched rounds of 70 and 67 to lead the tournament by one stroke.

Senior Matt Lehman (-2) is tied for ninth place after Monday's two rounds.  He opened the tournament with a 74 with three birdies in round one and paced the Paladins with a 68 and a team-high five birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 11 and No. 12, in the day's second round. 

Freshman Sam Lape (+1) birdied three out of four holes from No. 7 through No. 10 in round one, concluding the round with a 74, then fired a 71 with four birdies, including back to back birdies on No. 7 and No. 8, in round two to tie for 14th.  Sophomore Jack Crosby (+2) is tied for 18th after scoring rounds of 72 and 74.  He eagled the par-4 No. 14 and added a birdie on No. 1 in the day's opening round then added three birdies in the afternoon round.   

Rookie Walker Crosby (+6) tallied a 77 in round one then rebounded with a 73 with two birdies in round two, tying for 36th. 

Augusta (-6) holds a two-stroke lead over the Paladins (-4) entering Tuesday's final round.  Davidson (+5) is in third, followed by High Point (+7) in fourth, and Wofford (+9) in fifth place. 

The 54-hole tournament will conclude with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.  Furman will tee off on holes No. 1 through No. 3 and will play in a group with Augusta and Davidson.  Admission is free and fans are welcome.  Results and live tournament scoring are available via www.FurmanPaladins.com and www.golfstat.com.
