AIKEN, S.C. -- Senior Stephen Reynolds (E) carded a 73 in Tuesday's final round to tie for eighth and lead Furman (+12) to a third place finish at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate at the par 70, 6,617 yard Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, S.C.
A native of Greenville, S.C., Reynolds scored birdies on three of his last four holes to tally a team-high four birdies in the round and pace the Paladins in eighth place. Senior Keller Harper (+2) tied for tenth after firing a 69 with three birdies in the final round, and sophomore Jack Crosby (+6) posted a 72 with three birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 14 and No. 15, to tie for 20th.
Freshman Sam Lape (+14) and sophomore Owen Burden (+14) tied for 46th. Burden carded a 74 with birdies on No. 10 and No. 13, and Lape posted a final-round 78 with a birdie on No. 10.
Jacob Bridgeman (-12) of Clemson claimed individual medalist honors by four strokes with a three-round total of 67-66-65=198. No. 22 Clemson (-27) won the tournament by 16 strokes over second-place Virginia (-11). The Paladins (+12) finished third, followed by Memphis (+16) in fourth place. Army (+26) rounded out the top five
Furman led all three SoCon teams in the field, as Samford (+30) tied for sixth and Wofford (+39) finished ninth. The tournament marked the fourth top-four finish for the Paladins this season and tied the team's highest finish of third, which the Paladins also recorded at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate. Â
Furman will compete at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate in Chapel Hill, N.C., March 21-22.
