Furman In Third; Reynolds Tied For Fourth At Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate

AIKEN, S.C. -- Senior Stephen Reynolds (-3) fired two rounds under par to tie for fourth and help the Furman (+4) men's golf team to a third-place finish after the first day of the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate at the par 70, 6,617 yard Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, S.C.

Reynolds, a native of Greenville, S.C., teed off on No. 15 in each of Monday's rounds.  He birdied two out of his first three holes in round one and added two additional birdies on No. 7 and No. 9 before eagling the par-5 No. 14 for a 69 in round one.  In the day's second round, he birdied No. 18 then added birdies on No. 2 and No. 4 on the front.  Reynolds concluded round two with an eagle on the par-4 No. 13 and a birdie on No. 14 for a second-round 68. He enters Tuesday's final round four strokes back of leaders Jacob Bridgeman (-7) and Tuk Pettit (-7) of Clemson, who each scored a total of 133 for the tournament's first two rounds.

Senior Keller Harper (+3) is tied for 19th after two rounds.  He birdied two of his first three holes and added a birdie on his final hole, No. 11, for a first-round 72, then added four birdies for a 71 in the day's second round.  Sophomore Jack Crosby (+4) sits in 22nd place entering Tuesday's final round.  He recorded a 74 with three birdies in round one and added an even 70 with five birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 13 and No. 14, in round two. 

Freshman Sam Lape (+1) scored a 71 with four birdies in round one and a 75 with three birdies, including back to back birdies on No. 14 and No. 15 in round two, tying for 26th.  Sophomore Owen Burden (+11) carded an 81 with a birdie on No. 7 in the day's first round and rebounded with a one-under 69 with five birdies in the day's second round to tie for 49th.  He posted consecutive birdies on No. 6 and No. 7 then finished the round with birdies on three of his last four holes.

No. 22 Clemson (-17) leads the tournament by two strokes over Virginia (-15).  The Paladins (+4) are in third, followed by Memphis (+11) in fourth, and Army (+14) in fifth.

The 54-hole tournament will conclude with an 9 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.  Furman will tee off on holes No. 1 through No. 3 and will play in a group with Clemson and Virginia.  Admission is free and fans are welcome.  Results and live tournament scoring are available via http://www.FurmanPaladins.com and http://www.golfstat.com.
