JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. -- Junior Walker Crosby (-4) is tied for the individual lead to pace Furman after the opening day of the 23rd annual Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate Sunday at the par 72, 7,147 yard Blackthorne Club at the Ridges in Jonesborough, Tenn.

A native of Memphis, Tenn., Crosby teed off on No. 10 and birdied No. 15 to turn at 1-under then birdied four out of five holes from No. 4 to No. 8 to conclude the day with a 4-under 68.  Eight players are tied for the individual lead heading into Monday's second round. 

Senior Jack Crosby (-1) is tied for 30th after scoring a 71 with three birdies on Sunday, and junior Ross Funderburke (E) carded an even 72 to tie for 38th after one round.  Freshman Will Morlan (+1) recorded a 73 with three birdies to tie for 53rd, while sophomore Mac Scott (+3) ended Sunday's round in a tie for 69th after scoring a 75 with three birdies.  Senior Owen Burden (+8), who is playing as an individual, shot an 80 to finish the day in 91st place. 

Host East Tennessee State (-11) and Louisville (-11) are tied for first after one round of play, three strokes ahead of Charlotte (-8).  College of Charleston (-6) sits in fourth, followed by Virginia Tech (-4), who is in fifth, just one stroke ahead of the Paladins (-4), who are tied for sixth with Georgia Southern (-4).  Furman, which paced the field in par-5 scoring with a 4.55 on Sunday, leads Southern Conference rival Chattanooga (-2) along with Power 5 schools N.C. State (-2), Maryland (-1), Villanova (+2), and Penn State (+3).
