CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Reserve runners on the 10th-ranked Furman cross country team placed sixth Friday at the Royals Cross Country Challenge, which was hosted by Queens at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C.

The Paladins tallied 177 points at the meet.  Charleston (WV) won the meet with 42 points, followed by Wake Forest in second with 123 points.  

Junior Adam Beucler led Furman with an 11th-place finish, posting a time of 23:54.8 on the 8K course.  Freshman Foster Wilfong was 32nd at 24:19.1, followed by rookie Nick Goldstein in 38th place at 24:32.5.  Junior Mac Roberts turned in a time of 24:43.0 to finish 49th, while sophomore Spencer Tate completed the Paladin scoring with a 71st place finish and a time of 25:01.2.

Junior Nick Epstein placed 88th with a time of 25:15.7, and junior Benjamin Seeber posted a time of 25:25.3 for 95th place.  Junior Josh Powers crossed the line in 25:28.5 for 99th place, while freshman Casey Burr was 101st at 25:30.1  Junior Justin Hager registered a time of 26:28.7 for 179th place. 

Furman will compete at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational in Madison, Wis., on October 15.
