BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. -- Junior Sarah-Eve Rhéaume (+5) fired a second-round 68 to lead the Furman women's golf team Tuesday at the Gamecock Intercollegiate at the par 72, 6,297 yard Columbia Country Club in Blythewood, S.C.
Teams completed round two on Tuesday and immediately began the tournament's final round before hail forced the players off the course at 5:36 p.m. The final round is due to conclude on Wednesday beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Rhéaume, who hails from Lac-Delage, Canada, recorded seven birdies in the second round, including four-straight from No. 15 through No. 18 plus consecutive birdies on No. 10 and 11. In the third round, she eagled the part-5 No. 3 and sits at even through 11 holes. Rhéaume is tied for 34th entering Wednesday's play.
Senior Madison Moosa (+6) is tied for 38 after scoring a 71 with five birdies, including back to back birdies on No. 4 and No. 5 in round two. She is even through 11 holes with birdies on No. 5 and No. 7 in round three. Sophomore Anna Morgan (+7) tallied a 76 with birdies on No. 7 and No. 14 in the second round and is 2-over through 10 holes in round three, tying for 46th.
Freshman Sophia Burnett (+16) is in 87th place entering the final day of competition. She posted a 77 with birdies on No. 5 and No. 13 in round two and is currently four over with seven holes left in round three. Junior Kyra Cox (+19) shot an 81 with birdies on No. 4 and No. 12 in Tuesday's second round. She is tied for 90th and sits at 4-over with a birdie on No. 18 in round three.
No. 22 Duke (-4) extended its lead to six strokes on Tuesday. Second-ranked South Carolina (+2) is in second, followed by fifth-ranked Wake Forest (+3) in third. The loaded field includes 11 teams ranked in the top 22. Duke's Erica Shepherd (-8) leads the field through 10 holes of round three.
