Aiken, S.C. – Senior
Keller Harper carded a final round 68 on Tuesday afternoon and finished runner-up to lead the Furman men's golf team during the final round of the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate from the par 70, 6617-yard Palmetto Golf Course.
Harper, a native of Atlanta, Ga., posted a 2-under par score during Tuesday's final round highlighted by three birdies on holes 4, 11 and 17 to record his 11
th career top-5 performance. He compiled his second finish of second or better this season after shooting a combined score of 9-under par 201 (68-65-68).
Sophomore
Reynolds Lambert, a Mountain Brook, Ala., native, collected the second top-10 performance of his career after shooting a final round 75 to finish tied for sixth place at 3-under 207 (67-65-75).
Junior
Jack Crosby finished one stroke behind Lambert in a tie for 10
th place following his third round 69. The Memphis, Tenn., native collected his second top-10 finish this year, and fourth of his career, after shooting a 2-under 208 (71-68-69) for the tournament.
Sophomore
Ross Funderburke and junior
Owen Burden rounded out the individual leaderboard for the Paladins tied for 39
th and 43
rd places, respectively. Funderburke turned in a final round 73 for a total score of 220 (74-73-73), and Burden carded a 75 to finish at 221 (71-75-75).
Furman had a final round 285 and finished in fourth place with a combined score of 7-under 833 (277-271-285).
Harper tied for the tournament-lead in par 3 scoring (-3, 2.63 stroke average) while tying for fourth in par 4 scoring at 2-under and a 3.92 stroke average. He also posted a 2-under, 4.50 stroke average in par 5 scoring.
Crosby also tied for first among the tournament field in par 5 scoring at 5-under to go with a 3.75 stroke average. Lambert tied for second in par 4 scoring with a 3-under, 3.88 stroke average.
Harper and Lambert both finished tied for third at the tournament with 10 birdies, while Crosby tied for second with one eagle.
Furman ranked first in par 3 scoring (5-under, 2.88 stroke average) and birdies (41). The Paladins also recorded a 4.12 stroke average in par 4 scoring and 12-under, 4.40 stroke average in par 5 scoring.
Clemson won the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate by seven strokes over UNC Wilmington at 19-under par 821. Jacob Bridgeman of Clemson captured the individual championship by two strokes over Harper with an 11-under 199.
Furman returns to the course March 19-21 at the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Ga.
