GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's Drew Singerman has been voted to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 Men's At-Large Team, as announced today by the CoSIDA Academic All-America Committee. As a member of the all-district team, Singerman will now be placed on the national ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America consideration.
A senior from Louisville, Ky., Singerman holds a 4.0 GPA in health sciences. An All-Southern Conference second team selection for singles in 2019, he recorded a perfect 17-0 singles mark and was an umblemished 5-0 in SoCon contests. During the 2021 season, Singerman posted a 4-2 SoCon singles mark and went 3-3 versus league opponents in doubles.
Singerman, who was also chosen to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team in 2018-19, is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and received the 2020-21 John Block Academic Achievement Award. During his Furman career, he has been consistently selected to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll and SoCon All-Academic Team and named to ITA All-Academic Team. Singerman volunteers with Habitat for Humanity. He will return to the Paladin team next year for a fifth season and will pursue a master's in community engaged medicine.
"There are few things tougher for collegiate athletes than being a pre-health major at Furman University," said Furman head coach J.J. Whitlinger. "The drive to maintain a perfect 4.0 shows the type of student and person that Drew is. He encapsulates what we expect of our student-athletes here at Furman."
Nominations and voting for the CoSIDA Academic All-America programs are conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
