Anna Morgan & Furman Extend Lead After Two Rounds Of 47th Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Junior Anna Morgan (-12) fired a 67 to extend her individual lead to eight strokes, while Furman (-19) surged to a 25-stroke advantage Saturday at the 47th Annual Lady Paladin Invitational at the par-72, 6,278-yard Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.

Morgan, a native of Spartanburg, S.C., scored four birdies on the front, including back to back birdies on No. 5 and No. 6, to turn at 4-under, then added additional birdies on No. 13 and No. 18 to finish with a two-day total of 65-67=132, establishing a new tournament record for the lowest score over 36 holes.  The previous record of 135 was set in 2017 by Jiwon Jeon of Daytona State.

Furman has four players among the top 11 after scoring a 277 on Saturday, tying the second-best round in the history of the Paladin program, and breaking the previous tournament low round record of 280, which the Paladins set in 2017 and tied on Friday.

Senior Sarah-Eve Rhéaume (-4) carded a 70 for her second-consecutive round, scoring three birdies on the back, to sit alone in second place.  Sophomore Sophia Burnett (-2) paced the Paladins with a 67 and a team-high seven birdies on Saturday.  She scored three birdies on the front with consecutive birdies on No. 5 and No. 6 then added four birdies on the back to tie for fourth place entering Sunday's final round.  Senior Kyra Cox (+1) is tied for 11th after recording a 73 with birdies on No. 2 and No. 15 on Saturday.

Freshman Savannah Hylton (+15) scored an 86 on Saturday to tie for 61st, and sophomore Caroline Crumrine (+8), who is playing as an individual, carded a 73 with birdies on No. 3 and No. 12 to enter Sunday's final round in a tie for 38th.

The Paladins (-19) hold a 25-stroke lead over the field with one round left to play.  North Florida (+6) and Coastal Carolina (+6) are tied for second, while Georgia Southern (+9) is in fourth place.  Augusta (+11) completes the top five. 

The final round of the 54-hole tournament is schedule for a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday.  Furman will tee off of No. 1 through No. 3 and will play in a group with North Florida and Coastal Carolina.
