GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's tennis team will compete at Clemson Saturday in the season opener for both teams. First serve is set for noon at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility in Clemson, S.C.
The Paladins' season opener, which was scheduled for noon Sunday versus Davidson, has been postponed due to predicted inclement weather in the Greenville area.
"Our guys have been training really hard and we've had a great week of practice leading up to this weekend," said Furman head coach J.J. Whitlinger, who is in his third year at the helm of the Paladin program. "The opportunity to play an ACC opponent early is always a challenge, but our guys are definitely ready to compete!"
The Tigers hold a 39-4 series advantage after defeating the Paladins, 5-2, in Clemson in 2021.
Furman concluded the 2020-21 with a 10-12 overall record and 5-2 SoCon mark. The Paladins made their third-straight appearance in the league title match and reached the finals for the sixth time in the last seven championships. Ivan Mitric was named to the 2021 All-SoCon first team for singles, and Emil Westling claimed a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman team.
